Norskin recently entered a collaboration with Nordic comfort products NCP, where Norskin delivers fish skin to be used in a chair made primarily out of materials from the ocean.

Norskin will be delivering leather to be used in furniture. There are currently to examples of the Public chair with the cushions covered in fish skin, and the company will continue working with NCP as a leather distributor.

NCP is located in Hemningsberget on the coast of Helgeland, close to the arctic circle. NCP delivers sustainable furniture from recycled plastic materials. Their goal is to invest in the environment and the future by reusing plastic and steel from local industries and produce products in the same area, keeping it as local as possible.

´The launch of NCP´s Public-chair in local recycled plastic, with a cushion made from fish skin from Norskin and Re, with foam made out of seaweed from Agoprene, it makes a brilliant example of a norwegian collaboration resulting in an extreme environmental friendly product with great potential for high-end markeds out there.

The end product will strengthen NCPs focus on sustainable and environmental friendly products and we in NCP have high hopes for this product and developing our collaboration further, says Svein-Erik Hjerpbakk, CEO at Nordic Comfort Products AS.

Norskin goes Public, literally !

´The timing is good. Never has there been a better time to do something so transformative within sustainability and circular economy. By re-using both plastic and bio-based materials from the ocean, it creates high value. At the same time prolonging the lifecycle of the resources which solves some of the challenges we are facing in the green shift. Norskin goes Public, literally, says a proud Meyer Nilssen.

´This Public-chair is for the modern lifestyle and is a great example of what we as actors can do to exploit the unused resources we have available locally. All contributors are well invested and concerned with impact, so this is going to be good, says Michal Meyer Nilssen, CEO of Norskin Materials.

Foam made out of seaweed

The foam in the chair seat is made from seaweed by the company Agoprene, - a start up founded by Celine Sandberg, specializing in foam made out of resources from the ocean.

´We are proud that our seaweed foam plays a part in this project, and we hope it can be a way to upscale the use of seaweed in Norway. Upscaling th e seaweed industry will have a positive effect on biological diversity and ecosystems in the ocean.

This project is an example that finding environmental friendly options is not a challenge, it is an opportunity, says Celine Sandberg, CEO and founder of Agoprene.
