Materials for Tomorrow:
delivering quality, made to order

At Norskin we offer a high quality, sustainable alternative to traditional leather. Our leather derives from salmon skin, sourced from the local Norwegian fjords. We pay close attention to quality when we receive raw materials, during production and before we ship anything. However, there are always details that can be improved to make sure we exceed the expectations of our customers. Every tannery have their own preferences and specifications when it comes to how we should treat the material to optimise it for their production.

We offer a flexible production setup that can easily be adapted to any specifications our customers might want. Our product is literally made to order, providing our customers with a formable product delivered to their specifications. To ensure that this durable and sustainable quality is easy available for future generation designers, we also do collaborations with eco-friendly tanneries around the world, making it possible for designer and brands to order Norskin-materials through our sales channels.

Our products

Crust

In order to deliver custom made products, we offer crust leather directly to tanneries and fashion houses with in-house tanneries. Crust leather is a term applied to leather, which is dried after tanning but has not yet been dyed.

It is called crust because it is the term of a natural outer coating. This product option allows for customers like fashion houses and brands to add their own finish, allowing for more color options and finishes more specific to their choices and needs

Finished leather

In order to deliver a material sourced and produced locally, we offer a material made in-house here at Norskin facilities In Holstad. We carry a limited selection of colors, including an un dyed material.

Pickled pelts

By offering pickled pelts we are giving customer, or more specifically tanneries the option to use their own tanning methods in order to make the product exactly the way they acquire. Considering there are several different tanning methods we want to offer this untouched product allowing for more opportunities for specialized tanning for end costumer demand. The pickling process makes the fibres of the skins more receptive to tanning. Pickling increases the acidity of the skin, enabling tanning methods. Salts are added to prevent the fibres from swelling.
